jacket], spray skirts, dry bags, transportation from the point of origin and
return, camping fees, cooking gear, camp stoves, meals/snacks/beverages during
kayaking, tents, meal preparations, tarps, major first aid supplies, water
taxi, emergency radio or satellite
phone, and professional guides.
Not Included: Travel to Vancouver, accommodation in
Vancouver, personal gear, meals other than identified in the itinerary,
gratuities, all taxes.
Day 0-Arrive in area, prepared for pickup the next morning. A guide will phone you to confirm pickup details.
Day 1-We will take the ferry from Tswassen to Naniamo. The van journey will take us up island to Campbell River for lunch and then we head onwards toward Zeballos. We will spend the night here in Zeballos getting to know each other and preparing for our day on the water tomorrow.
Day 2-We will put in at Little Espinosa Inlet near Zeballos, where guides will go over kayak procedures and skills. We head south along the shoreline then cross Esperanza Inlet to our new home for the next few nights,
Flynns Cove. on Nootka Island. This makes a good first days paddling objective.
Day 3-5 From our comfy cabin home at Flynns Cove, we will visit a variety of the many islands in the Nuchatlitz group. Paddling along the Nootka Island shoreline, we arrive at one of these islands. These islands offer us many opportunities; if the winds are too high to paddle the seas on the 'outside' then we can explore the hidden lagoons sheltered behind. In favourable conditions Benson Point, or Catala Island can be included in the itinerary. And of course we will keep our eyes open for the floating rafts of sea otters which are often seen amongst these islands.
Day 6-We pack up and begin heading back toward Little Espinosa to our vehicle. Usually back and packed by early afternoon, we then continue the journey south towards the ferry and the mainland..
